The Deluxe 4-Berth Cabin is shared service at $45 per person and suits families or groups of three or more; the VIP 2-Berth Cabin is private service at $215 for the whole cabin (max 2 adults) and adds free snacks, soft drinks, and fruit. Berths in both are 70 × 185 cm. A 10% surcharge applies during Christmas, New Year, and Vietnamese public holidays.
The train departs Hanoi at 22:00 and arrives at Lao Cai at 06:30 — about 8.5 hours overnight, so you travel while you sleep. The return leaves Lao Cai around 21:30 and arrives in Hanoi at 05:30.
No — it terminates at Lao Cai Train Station, about 40 km from Sapa town, so you need to arrange onward transport to your hotel. On arrival, Chapa Express passengers can use a dedicated lounge at the station to freshen up before heading on.
