07:00: Early pick-up from your Hue hotel and drive north on Highway 1 through Quang Tri province, past landscapes that saw the war's heaviest fighting.
09:00 - 09:30: Stop at the Hien Luong Bridge over the Ben Hai River — the actual line of the 17th parallel that divided North and South from 1954 to 1975 — with its reconstructed flag tower and propaganda loudspeakers.
10:00 - 11:30: Explore the Vinh Moc Tunnels, where an entire fishing village moved underground to survive the bombing: 2 km of tunnels on three levels complete with family alcoves, a maternity room where 17 babies were born, and sea-facing exits. Unlike Cu Chi, these tunnels are original size — no crawling required.
12:00 - 13:00: Lunch at a local restaurant in Dong Ha or Cam Lo (included).
13:45 - 14:00: Photo stop at the Rockpile, the karst outcrop that served as a US observation post, and the Dakrong Bridge on the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
14:30 - 15:30: Visit Khe Sanh Combat Base near the Lao border — site of the 77-day siege of 1968 — with its small museum, restored bunkers, helicopters, and runway remains set against beautiful coffee-country hills.

Will the tunnels feel claustrophobic like Cu Chi?
Much less so. Cu Chi (near Saigon) was a guerrilla combat network of tight crawling tunnels, while Vinh Moc was a civilian survival village built for permanent living — the tunnels are walking height (1.6–1.9 m) with ventilation and multiple exits, so no crawling is required. Anyone comfortable in a cellar corridor will manage, and you can skip the underground section entirely.
How long is the day, and how much of it is driving?
It's roughly 10.5 hours door to door, with a 07:00 pickup from your Hue hotel and drop-off around 5:30 PM. Expect about 4.5–5 hours total in the vehicle, broken into 60–90 minute legs between sites — bring snacks and something to listen to for the drives.
Is the tour appropriate for children?
Teenagers studying the war era get a lot from it, but it isn't recommended for young children — the day is long and the content heavy.
